What the Result Shows

The calculator reads every graha in your chart and names the ones sitting in uchcha, in neecha, or in their own sign. Each one comes with the exact degree, since that is what separates two charts holding the same placement.

A graha within a degree or two of its deep exaltation point carries far more of that strength. The same graha at the far edge of the sign carries much less.

The Degrees the Calculator Reports

Each graha has one sign of exaltation, one sign of debilitation opposite it, and a single degree where the strength is at its highest. What each placement means for a chart is set out in Exalted and Debilitated Planets in Vedic Astrology.

  • Surya: exalted in Mesha at 10 degrees, debilitated in Tula at 10 degrees.
  • Chandra: exalted in Vrishabha at 3 degrees, debilitated in Vrischika at 3 degrees.
  • Mangal: exalted in Makara at 28 degrees, debilitated in Karka at 28 degrees.
  • Budha: exalted in Kanya at 15 degrees, debilitated in Meena at 15 degrees.
  • Guru: exalted in Karka at 5 degrees, debilitated in Makara at 5 degrees.
  • Shukra: exalted in Meena at 27 degrees, debilitated in Kanya at 27 degrees.
  • Shani: exalted in Tula at 20 degrees, debilitated in Mesha at 20 degrees.
  • Rahu and Ketu: the texts differ. The common reading places Rahu high in Vrishabha and Ketu high in Vrischika, with the debilitation of each in the sign opposite.

Budha is exalted and in its own sign in Kanya at once. A well-placed Budha there gives unusually clear speech and reasoning.

Reading a Neecha Placement in Your Result

A neecha graha shows where the mind meets friction and where steady work is asked for. The matters that graha governs arrive later in life and hold better once they arrive. People with a debilitated Shani often build the most durable careers, after years that ask more of them than of others.

Check for neecha bhanga before calling any placement weak. The conditions that lift a debility, and the yoga they form, are covered in Neecha Bhanga Raja Yoga.

The chart mirrors what a person already carries. An exalted graha names an ease that is already there. A debilitated one names the place where attention, practice and conduct change the result.

What to Do With the Result

Read the house alongside the sign. An exalted graha in the 6th, 8th or 12th house gives less of its promise. The same graha in a kendra or a trikona gives most of it. A debilitated graha in a kendra is stronger than the word suggests, since the house itself carries it.

Then read the dasha. A neecha graha does most of its work during its own mahadasha and antardasha, and stays quiet outside those years. Remedy for it stays practical: japa of its bija mantra, daana on its weekday, and conduct that answers the tendency the placement shows.

FAQs

Most frequent questions and answers about exalted and debilitated planets

How do I know if I have exalted or debilitated planets?

This calculator analyzes your birth chart to check if any planet is exalted (strongest) or debilitated (weakest) based on its zodiac placement.

What happens if I have an exalted planet?

An exalted planet expresses its best qualities, bringing success, confidence, and favorable outcomes in the areas it governs.

What are the effects of a debilitated planet?

A debilitated planet may struggle to express its energy, leading to challenges, delays, or difficulties in certain life areas.

Which zodiac does this calculator use?

The sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri ayanamsa, which is what Jyotish is read on in India and Nepal.

Which is stronger, an exalted planet or one in its own sign?

Exaltation gives the greater strength. A graha in its own sign gives steadier results across a life, since it is never troubled by its dispositor.

Do I need an exact birth time for this calculator?

An exact time is needed for the Moon and for the house positions. The other grahas move slowly enough that the date settles the sign, and only the degree shifts with the time.
