Mars Transit in Cancer 2026: Effects and Predictions

Mars enters Cancer on 18 September 2026 and leaves on 12 November. Cancer is where Mars falls into debilitation. Jupiter is already sitting there in exaltation. The two share the sign for forty-three days.

Mars wants to act. Jupiter wants to know why first. Readers who handle this period well are the ones who can hold both at once for eight weeks.

Mars also comes back to Cancer in retrograde motion in March 2027, so whatever starts now gets a second reading six months later.

Saturn stays retrograde in Pisces for the whole window. Rahu is in Aquarius and Ketu in Leo until early December, and the Sun crosses Virgo and then Libra.

Mars in Cancer: What Debilitation Does Here

Mars runs on heat and speed. Cancer is a water sign ruled by the Moon, built around feeling and shelter. The planet of attack lands in the sign of protection, and it does not know what to do there.

Force turns inward. Anger stops arriving as a clean outburst. It starts arriving as silence, as sulking, as an old complaint raised for the fourth time in a month. Energy with nowhere to go becomes restlessness at home.

Debilitation takes away a planet's usual method and leaves it to find another one. Mars in Cancer learns to wait and to plan. It also learns to act for someone other than itself, which is the useful part.

Read Mars in Cancer for the natal version of this placement.

Forty Three Days With Jupiter

When Mars enters Cancer at zero degrees, Jupiter has already crossed twenty-two degrees of the same sign. Jupiter is moving fast this year. The gap closes to six or seven degrees by the end of October, and then Jupiter leaves for Leo.

So the two share a sign for forty-three days and never meet by degree. That changes the reading. A wide association inside one sign gives steady support without the pressure an exact conjunction brings.

Jupiter in Cancer holds its highest strength throughout. Its effect on the sign it occupies never depended on catching Mars.

Jupiter gives Mars a reason to act. The instinct to strike becomes an instinct to guard something. Work that protects a family, a team or a standard is the work that survives this transit.

The Cancellation Question

Many astrologers on the internet are claiming that exalted Jupiter with debilitated Mars creates Neecha Bhanga Raja Yoga for every sign. The conditions are narrower than that. Most of them need a birth chart to test.

Four conditions are usually applied to a debilitated planet:

  • the lord of the sign of debilitation placed in a kendra

  • the planet exalted in that sign placed in a kendra from the Lagna or the Moon

  • conjunction with or aspect from the planet exalted in that sign

  • the debilitated planet in retrograde motion, or exalted in the navamsa

The first one needs a caution here. The lord of Cancer is the Moon, and the Moon always sits in the 1st house counted from itself. Read that way, the condition would cancel this debilitation in every chart ever drawn. For Mars in Cancer, the kendra test means something only when counted from the Lagna.

The exchange between Mars and the Moon

A second route works more cleanly. Mars in Cancer occupies the sign of the Moon. A Moon in Aries or Scorpio occupies a sign of Mars. The two hold each other's houses, which is Parivartana Yoga.

Each planet then works through a sign it owns. Most practising astrologers accept this as a cancellation of the debilitation of Mars, and the reasoning is sound. Parivartana carries its own classical treatment, so it sits beside the four conditions above rather than inside them.

Moon in Aries is the clean case. The Moon carries no weakness in Aries, so the exchange lifts Mars at no cost to the Moon.

Moon in Scorpio divides opinion, and both readings deserve stating. The Moon is debilitated in Scorpio, so two weak planets are holding each other's signs. One reading grants cancellation to both on the same ownership logic. The other treats it as a hard exchange where results arrive only after real difficulty.

Get a Scorpio Moon checked in the full chart before you apply either view.

Three levels to check

Natal Mars in Cancer with a natal Moon in Aries or Scorpio is the full exchange, carried for life.

Transiting Mars in Cancer against a natal Moon in Aries or Scorpio is a lighter version of the same thing. Readers of those two Moon signs carry it for the whole period.

Transiting Mars with the transiting Moon in Aries or Scorpio completes the exchange in the sky. It lasts about two and a half days each time. Three of those windows fall inside this transit.

Last window before Jupiter leaves

Short windows, and worth using. Start the physical task. Push the matter that has been stuck. Hold the conversation you have been putting off.

For everyone else, the longer reading is simpler. Exalted Jupiter in the same sign supports Mars for as long as it stays there. The birth chart decides whether a formal yoga sits behind that support.

Three Nakshatra Stages

Punarvasu pada 4 runs from 18 to 24 September. Punarvasu is the nakshatra of return. Expect a first week spent restarting something you dropped earlier.

Pushya holds Mars from 24 September to 17 October. Pushya is the most supportive nakshatra in the zodiac, ruled by Saturn with Brihaspati as its deity. These three weeks carry the best results of the whole transit. Steady work, family duty, and long commitments all do well here.

Then Ashlesha, from 17 October to 12 November. Ashlesha is sharp, private and strategic, and Mars sits there alongside Jupiter for two of those weeks. Our piece on Jupiter in Ashlesha covers that ground in full.

Watch for words that carry a hidden edge, starting with your own.

Where Mars Looks From Cancer

Mars does not act only on the sign it occupies. From Cancer, it throws its full aspects on three more signs.

The fourth aspect lands on Libra and puts pressure on partnership and fairness. The seventh lands on Capricorn and pushes work, authority, and delivery. The eighth lands on Aquarius and shakes up friend circles and long plans.

Jupiter aspects Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces from the same sign. Capricorn takes both planets, so career and duty carry the heaviest combined load of this transit for most readers.

Jupiter's ninth aspect also reaches Saturn in Pisces. Slow structural work gains patience from that, which matters if you are in the middle of something long.

31 October to 12 November

Jupiter leaves for Leo on 31 October. Mars then spends the last twelve days in Cancer alone.

Mars also reaches its deepest debilitation near twenty-eight degrees of Cancer in the first week of November. The support is gone at the point where the placement is hardest. These twelve days are the one stretch of the transit to handle carefully.

Hold.

Finish what is already running. Push a new job start, a signature, or a confrontation into the second half of November wherever the choice is yours. Sleep, food timing, and driving all deserve more care in this window.

Effects for All 12 Signs

Read from your Moon sign first and then from your Lagna. Where the two differ, take both readings together.

Aries (Mesha Rashi)

Mars and Jupiter both sit in your 4th house, and their shared aspect lands on your 10th. Home and career move together.

Property work, vehicle purchase and repairs at home all come up, with paperwork slower than anyone promises you. Mars is your Lagna lord in a kendra, so the kendra condition for cancellation is available to you.

An Aries Moon adds more, since Mars in Cancer then holds an exchange with your Moon for the full period.

Job changes made before the end of October settle better than anything started in early November. Guard your tone with your mother and with senior people at home.

Taurus (Vrishabha Rashi)

Both planets occupy your 3rd house of effort, courage and communication. Writing, teaching, selling, media work and short travel all gain weight this season.

Younger siblings and close colleagues become more active in your plans, and the shared aspect on your 9th supports study, teachers and long journeys. Saturn aspects your Lagna from the 11th, so income grows through patience.

Read your written messages twice before you send them in October.

Gemini (Mithuna Rashi)

Cancer is your 2nd house, so family money and speech carry the charge. Money moves in and out faster than usual. Jupiter steadies the flow for as long as it stays.

Both planets aspect your 8th, which favours research and tax matters. Your speech gains real force in this period. Force used carelessly costs more than it earns, so keep the edge out of family conversations.

Keep your food timing regular through the Ashlesha weeks.

Cancer (Karka Rashi)

Both planets sit in your Lagna. Mars is your Yogakaraka, ruling the 5th and 10th, and Jupiter rules your 9th from exaltation. This is the strongest placement of the twelve and also the most demanding.

Confidence, drive and public standing all rise together.

The shared aspect on your 7th house brings partnership talks, marriage discussion and business negotiation into the same eight weeks. Your own temper is the only thing standing in the way of any of it.

Read Cancer rashi for the base picture of the sign.

Leo (Simha Rashi)

Cancer is your 12th house, so most of the work happens out of sight. Foreign applications, visas, overseas study and long-distance work are all supported while Jupiter holds the house. Expenses rise, and most of them go toward commitments that matter to you.

Both planets aspect your 6th, which favours competition, interviews and pending cases.

Ketu sits in your Lagna until early December. Rest is not optional in that combination. Protect your sleep and stay off the road when you are tired.

Virgo (Kanya Rashi)

Both planets occupy your 11th house of gains and networks. Older friendships and professional circles start producing results, and the stretch suits anyone working in technology, media or anything built on an audience.

The shared aspect falls on your 5th, which supports creative projects and children. Saturn aspects your Lagna from the 7th, so partnerships ask you to be serious.

Avoid lending large sums inside a friend group during October.

Libra (Tula Rashi)

Mars reaches directional strength in your 10th house with exalted Jupiter beside it. Career is the headline for you this season.

Promotions and signed contracts belong to this window. Both planets aspect your 4th, which brings property and vehicles into the same period. Mars aspects your Lagna as well, which lifts your drive and shortens your patience at the same time.

Give your family fixed time each week so the work does not take all of it.

Scorpio (Vrishchik Rashi)

Cancer is your 9th house, your Lagna lord sits there, and exalted Jupiter aspects your Lagna from it. Fortune, teachers, travel, and higher study all open up. Long-pending matters start clearing without the usual resistance.

The shared aspect falls on your 3rd, which favours writing, publishing and independent work. Spiritual practice started now holds.

A Scorpio Moon brings in the exchange described above, since your Moon and transiting Mars are holding each other's signs. Get that checked in your full chart before you count it as a cancellation.

Anger and blood pressure both need watching through the Ashlesha weeks.

Sagittarius (Dhanu Rashi)

Cancer is your 8th house, and your Lagna lord Jupiter sits there in exaltation. The 8th works through hidden things, shared money and inner pressure. Research, insurance, tax and inheritance matters all move.

Both planets aspect your 2nd, which protects family savings and steadies income. Saturn in your 4th asks for repair work at home.

Fear that has been sitting for years becomes workable in this period. Take professional help with it if it is heavy.

Capricorn (Makar Rashi)

Both planets sit in your 7th house of marriage, partnership and business. New proposals, new clients and new agreements arrive.

Mars in the 7th also sharpens disagreement, so the same house carries both results for you.

Both planets aspect your Lagna, which raises your energy and your interest in fitness. Cancer is a kendra from your sign, so the kendra condition for cancellation is available to you.

Read every agreement twice before signing in October and November.

Aquarius (Kumbh Rashi)

Cancer is your 6th house, which is strong ground for Mars. Competitors, court matters, debts and job searches all move in your favour. Readers without work find openings in this window.

Both planets aspect your 12th, which slows long-running losses. Service work and healthcare connections pay off now.

Rahu sits in your Lagna and Ketu aspects it. Keep your speech plain and stay out of road disputes.

Pisces (Meen Rashi)

Cancer is your 5th house, and your Lagna lord Jupiter sits there in exaltation. Study, competitive exams, creative work and children carry the good news. Romance started or renewed now has a serious quality to it.

Both planets aspect your 11th, which turns creative work into income.

Saturn sits in your Lagna in retrograde motion, so your energy runs lower than your plans assume. Keep a fixed sleep cycle and stop over-scheduling yourself.

What to Do in This Period

The practical work here is daily and it is small.

Pause before you answer when something stings. Count, leave the room, reply the next morning. Write the angry message and then delete it without sending. Physical exercise gives the trapped energy somewhere real to go, and it protects the people around you.

Recite the Hanuman Chalisa in the morning or the evening. Give jaggery or roasted chana to working people on Tuesdays. Serve your mother and the older women in your family with attention, since Cancer is the sign of the mother.

Chant Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya to steady the mind through the Ashlesha weeks.

These practices work on the mind first. The planet outside reflects a tendency you already carry, so the change has to happen where that tendency lives.

Mars in Leo and the 2027 Return

Mars leaves Cancer on 12 November and enters Leo, where it joins Ketu and the Sun in Magha. The tone changes from held in to open and hot.

Mars turns retrograde on 10 January 2027 and comes back into Cancer on 10 March. It turns direct inside Ashlesha on 1 April and leaves Cancer for good on 26 April 2027.

Jupiter also returns to Cancer in late January 2027 and stays into June. Whatever you leave unfinished this autumn comes back for a second attempt with Jupiter present again.

Summary

Mars spends fifty-five days in its sign of debilitation, with exalted Jupiter beside it for the first forty-three. The two share Cancer without meeting by degree, so the support runs steady rather than sharp. Pushya from 24 September to 17 October carries the best results. The twelve days after Jupiter leaves ask for patience rather than new starts.

The claim that this creates a Raja Yoga for all twelve signs does not survive contact with a birth chart. What holds for everyone is simpler. Mars in Cancer teaches restraint, and the reader who works with it through these eight weeks carries the habit into the 2027 return.
