How Is Yogini Dasha Calculated?
Yogini Dasha is calculated from the Moon’s nakshatra at the time of birth. The nakshatra number is taken and put through a fixed formula, and the remainder determines which of the eight Yoginis your first dasha belongs to.
The eight Yoginis run in a fixed order: Mangala, Pingala, Dhanya, Bhramari, Bhadrika, Ulka, Siddha, and Sankata. Each is ruled by a planet, Moon through Rahu, respectively, and each has a fixed duration of 1 through 8 years. Those durations add up to the 36-year cycle, which then repeats.
The Moon’s exact degree within the nakshatra determines how much of the first Yogini period had already elapsed at birth, which anchors the timeline. The calculator handles all of this once you enter your birth details.
