Mercury Transit in Aquarius

Aquarius belongs to Saturn, whom Mercury counts neutral. Budha passes through in about eighteen days, and Saturn's airy sign suits a graha of intellect well, so thought turns abstract and impersonal.

Aquarius governs the calves and ankles, gains, friendship and shared causes. Mercury here favours research, systems and group work, and ideas come from unusual directions. Warmth in conversation is harder to reach.

The nakshatras are Dhanishta, Shatabhisha and Purva Bhadrapada. Dhanishta, under Mars, opens with public effort. Shatabhisha, under Rahu, is the most original stretch and suits medicine, research and hidden knowledge. Purva Bhadrapada, under Jupiter, closes with severity of thought.

Classical gochara counts Mercury well in the second, fourth, sixth, eighth, tenth and eleventh from the natal Moon, which here means Capricorn, Scorpio, Virgo, Cancer, Taurus and Aries Moons. Aquarius Moons hold it in the first, and Pisces Moons carry it in the twelfth, where thinking turns inward.

Ideas can become a way of keeping people at a distance during this stay. Saying the simple, personal thing takes more effort here, and it is worth the effort. Research goes far during Shatabhisha.

• Recite Om Bram Breem Braum Sah Budhaya Namah on Wednesday.
• Take up research or unusual study during Shatabhisha.
• Say one plain, personal thing to someone close.

Mercury in Aquarius for each Moon sign

Counted from the natal Moon, following Phaladeepika. Read the ascendant the same way. Vedha and the birth chart can change the result.
