Mercury Transit in Capricorn

Capricorn belongs to Saturn, whom Mercury counts neutral, and Budha passes through in about nineteen days. Saturn's sign gives thought structure and slows it down, and planning goes well.

Capricorn governs the knees, career, duty and structure. Mercury here turns the mind to work, systems and long schedules, and contracts and career negotiations both go well. Speech turns dry and can read as cold.

The nakshatras are Uttara Ashadha, Shravana and Dhanishta. Uttara Ashadha, under the Sun, opens with conclusions that hold. Shravana, under the Moon, is the most receptive stretch and suits listening and instruction. Dhanishta, under Mars, closes the stay with public effort.

Classical gochara counts Mercury well in the second, fourth, sixth, eighth, tenth and eleventh from the natal Moon: Sagittarius, Libra, Leo, Gemini, Aries and Pisces Moons. Capricorn Moons hold it in the first, and Aquarius Moons carry it in the twelfth, where plans go quiet.

Plans made now should state what they are for, which keeps them honest. Listen carefully during Shravana.

• Recite Om Bram Breem Braum Sah Budhaya Namah on Wednesday.
• Build the long plan and write it down during Uttara Ashadha.
• Spend the Shravana days listening.

Mercury in Capricorn for each Moon sign

Counted from the natal Moon, following Phaladeepika. Read the ascendant the same way. Vedha and the birth chart can change the result.
