What Rahu in Ardra nakshatra means
Ardra is Rahu's own nakshatra, in Gemini, with Rudra as its deity and a teardrop or a gem as its symbol. Rahu here answers to no other lord. Mercury owns the sign and is Rahu's friend in the usual lists. The shadow graha has both the star and the sign on its side.
The stay lasts around seven months, backward from the fourth pada to the first. When the true node runs direct for some weeks, the stay is split into two visits. Ardra's themes are grief, upheaval, research, sharp intellect, weather and the tearing down of what no longer stands.
Rahu at home makes all of this louder. Technology, foreign languages, data and the study of hidden things prosper. The nervous system, the arms and the lungs need care.
Ketu stands in Purva Ashadha for the first half of the stay and in Mula for the second. The axis pairs a Rahu that wants to know everything with a Ketu that has stopped believing anything. Aries, Capricorn and Leo Moons and lagnas receive Rahu in the third, sixth and eleventh, the houses Phaladeepika names favourable. Gemini Moons carry it in the first, Sagittarius Moons have Ketu there, and Cancer and Scorpio Moons take the twelfth and eighth.
The transit shows how one meets loss. Rudra destroys and then weeps. Grief met fully under this transit passes, and what it leaves behind is usable.
The remedy is Durga and Rudra together. Recite Om Ram Rahave Namah and, if the tradition permits, the Rudram or a simple Om Namah Shivaya. Parashara's graha shanti calls for mantra and dana, and the traditional gifts for Rahu are dark cloth, sesame and oil on Saturday. No intoxicants, and no argument carried past sunset.
