What Venus in Ardra nakshatra means
Ardra lies in Gemini, Mercury's sign, and its lord is Rahu. The deity is Rudra, the symbol a teardrop, or a gem shaped like one. Rahu has no place in Parashara's friendship table, and by the rule Shanivat Rahu it is read as Saturn, a friend of Venus. Mercury too is Venus's friend, so the transit is well supported by both lords, whatever the deity's temper.
Rudra's intensity enters Venus's affairs. Love is felt strongly and sometimes with tears, and an old grief may return to be finished. Art made in these eleven days has an edge of sorrow that gives it worth. Desire for the foreign, the new and the technological is strong, and Rahu's taste for excess needs a limit.
Ardra suits research, sharp speech and the clearing of what has rotted. It does not suit a wedding, which the muhurta texts leave out of its list. A purchase made in strong feeling is often regretted.
