What Rahu in Dhanishta nakshatra means
Dhanishta is Mars's nakshatra, with the eight Vasus as its deities and a drum and a flute as its symbols. The first two padas lie in Capricorn and the last two in Aquarius, so Saturn owns the whole ground. Mars is Rahu's enemy in the usual lists and Saturn its friend, and the star is uneasy where the sign is calm.
Rahu enters at the fourth pada, in Aquarius, and moves backward to the first pada in Capricorn over about eight months. When the true node runs direct for some weeks the stay splits into two visits. Dhanishta's themes are wealth, music, rhythm, fame, generosity and the hollow instrument through which sound passes.
Rahu enlarges wealth and its display. Sudden money, speculative gains, music that reaches many and fame that arrives overnight are all possible. The drum is hollow, and so is some of what Rahu brings here. Ketu stands in Magha during the Aquarius padas and in Ashlesha during the Capricorn padas.
- For the Aquarius padas, Sagittarius, Virgo and Aries Moons hold Rahu in the third, sixth and eleventh, the houses Phaladeepika favours.
- For the Capricorn padas the favoured signs are Scorpio, Leo and Pisces.
- Aquarius Moons, and later Capricorn Moons, carry Rahu in the first.
- Leo and Cancer Moons meet Ketu in the first and Rahu in the seventh, and the lagna is read by the same count.
The transit shows one's relationship with abundance. The Vasus give, and the person who receives without needing to be seen receiving keeps what is given.
Worship Durga and recite Om Ram Rahave Namah, and offer music in worship for the Vasus. Take no intoxicants, and keep no gain secret from the family. Parashara prescribes mantra and dana, and the gifts for Rahu, dark cloth, sesame and oil, may be given on Saturday by the family.
