What Saturn in Libra means
Libra is Saturn's sign of exaltation. Parashara and Brihat Jataka both place the highest point at the twentieth degree, and the sign lord Venus is Saturn's friend. This is the strongest Saturn transit of the cycle. For about two and a half years Saturn gives its best results: justice, fair dealing, lasting partnership and standing earned through honest work.
Libra rules marriage, business partnership, trade, courts and public reputation. An exalted Saturn brings fairness to each of them. Contracts signed now tend to hold, and long partnerships are tested until the honest ones deepen. Legal matters move toward a just settlement, and slowly.
The nakshatras are Chitra, Swati and Vishakha. Swati, ruled by Rahu, holds the middle of the sign and gives independence and gain through trade. Vishakha, ruled by Jupiter, turns the effort toward purpose and completion.
From the Moon, Scorpio, Libra and Virgo Moon signs are in Sade Sati, with Libra in the middle phase. Even in Sade Sati, an exalted Saturn is kinder than a debilitated one. Cancer Moons have Saturn in the fourth house and Pisces Moons in the eighth. Leo, Taurus and Sagittarius Moons and lagnas receive Saturn in the third, sixth and eleventh, Phaladeepika's favourable houses.
What the transit shows is one's sense of balance. Saturn exalted asks the person to weigh both sides, to deal with others as equals, and to accept the slow verdict of time. Those who cut corners in partnership feel the loss most.
The remedy is fairness itself. Settle old accounts, return what was borrowed, and treat partners and employees with the same measure. Saturday service and the Shani mantra keep the gains steady, and a debt forgiven is as good a dana as Parashara's sesame and oil. Watch the kidneys and the lower back, which Libra governs.
