What Saturn in Capricorn means
Capricorn is Saturn's own sign. A graha in its own house is at home, and Saturn here gives its results fully and without distortion. Capricorn rules career, public position, structure, government, the knees and the long climb. Saturn stays about two and a half years and builds.
Work is the whole theme. Effort made during this transit is repaid later, with interest. Promotions come to those who have earned them over years. Organisations, governments and large structures reform themselves during the stay, and people in them feel the pressure of new rules.
The nakshatras are Uttara Ashadha, Shravana and Dhanishta. Shravana, ruled by the Moon, is the middle third and favours learning by listening, patience with elders and steady advancement. Dhanishta, ruled by Mars, adds ambition and the drive to finish and be seen.
From the Moon, Aquarius, Capricorn and Sagittarius Moon signs are in Sade Sati, with Capricorn in the middle phase. Saturn in its own sign softens Sade Sati for those who work. Libra Moons have Saturn in the fourth house and Gemini Moons in the eighth. The third, sixth and eleventh, Phaladeepika's houses for a giving Saturn, fall to Scorpio, Leo and Pisces Moons and lagnas.
What the transit shows is one's capacity for endurance. Saturn at home asks for nothing beyond what it always asks: turn up, do the work, keep the word. A person who has spent years avoiding responsibility is handed it now. A person who has carried it quietly is recognised.
- Serve the old and those who labour, and give sesame and oil on Saturday, the dana Parashara names for Saturn.
- Recite Om Sham Shanaishcharaya Namah before work and keep a fixed daily schedule.
- Guard the knees and the joints, and keep the body warm and moving.
