Saturn Transit in Pisces

Pisces is Jupiter's sign, and Jupiter is neutral toward Saturn. The sign rules endings, sleep, foreign lands, hospitals, expenses, isolation and moksha. Saturn stays about two and a half years and brings discipline to the least disciplined sign of the zodiac, and the result is a slow letting go.

Expenses rise and must be watched. Sleep may suffer, and the feet, which Pisces rules, need care. Time spent alone increases, sometimes by choice and sometimes through circumstance, and foreign residence and long stays away from home are common under this transit.

The nakshatras are Purva Bhadrapada, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati. Uttara Bhadrapada is Saturn's own nakshatra, and in it the transit gives depth, patience and real spiritual progress. This middle third is where a sadhana begun in earnest takes root. Revati, ruled by Mercury, closes the stay with the settling of accounts and the end of a cycle.

From the Moon, Aries, Pisces and Aquarius Moon signs are in Sade Sati, with Pisces in the middle phase. Sagittarius Moons have Saturn in the fourth house and Leo Moons in the eighth. Capricorn, Libra and Taurus Moons and lagnas receive Saturn in the third, sixth and eleventh, the houses Phaladeepika names as favourable.

Saturn in Pisces removes supports one at a time and tests what a person is attached to. For someone with a steady practice, it is one of the most valuable transits of the cycle.

The remedy is the practice itself. Meditation at a fixed hour, seva in a hospital or an ashram, and the Shani mantra make Saturn in Pisces a friend. Parashara's dana for Saturn, sesame and oil given on Saturday, may be joined with feeding the poor near water. Sleep early, spend little, and let the endings complete.
