Saturn Transit in Dhanishta

Dhanishta belongs to Mars, Saturn's enemy, and its deity is the eight Vasus, gods of wealth and the elements. The symbols are a drum and a flute. The first two padas lie in Capricorn and the last two in Aquarius, so the whole nakshatra falls in Saturn's own signs, and here the enemy lord is held inside the graha's own house.

Wealth, rhythm, music, property and fame among peers are the themes. Saturn gives wealth through steady labour and rhythm through routine: property matters settle slowly, a musician's practice pays after long repetition, and a group comes to depend on one's steadiness. Watch the ankles and calves. Mars adds inflammation to Saturn's stiffness.

The passage takes about a year, broken by the retrograde into two or three visits. Its Capricorn padas concern work and public standing, and the Aquarius padas turn to gains and friends.

In the Capricorn padas, Aquarius, Capricorn and Sagittarius Moons are in Sade Sati, Libra Moons in Kantaka and Gemini Moons in Ashtama. Once Saturn enters Aquarius, Sade Sati shifts to Pisces, Aquarius and Capricorn Moons, with Scorpio in the fourth and Cancer in the eighth. Phaladeepika's favourable third, sixth and eleventh go first to Scorpio, Leo and Pisces Moons and lagnas, then to Sagittarius, Virgo and Aries.

The transit shows a person's sense of rhythm, and whether their days have a beat or only a string of demands. Keeping time, in practice and in work, is how the Vasus' wealth is earned.

A fixed daily rhythm is the remedy: rising, practice, work and sleep at the same hours. Give iron or oil on Saturday, recite Om Sham Shanaishcharaya Namah, and offer red lentils on Tuesday for Mars. Support a labourer who works by the day, and let Hanuman on Saturday keep the two grahas at peace.
