Jupiter Transit in Dhanishta

Dhanishta spans the last two padas of Capricorn and the first two of Aquarius, both signs of Saturn. Mars is the lord and a friend of Jupiter, and the eight Vasus preside, with a drum and a flute as symbols. Jupiter is debilitated in the Capricorn half and neutral in the Aquarius half. Mars gives it drive throughout.

The name means the wealthiest, and wealth is the theme, coming through property, music, groups and organised effort. Mars adds ambition and some haste. The stay is around four to five months, and a retrograde commonly brings the graha back for a second visit.

Children show talent in rhythm and sport, and faith becomes communal: a temple committee, a study circle, a public festival. Marriage is delayed by ambition in the Capricorn half and helped by friends in the Aquarius half. Saturn's signs make Jupiter give late. Dhanishta gives late and gives well.

From the Moon, and by the same count from the lagna:

• Sagittarius, Virgo, Cancer, Taurus and Pisces gain through the Capricorn padas, with Jupiter in Phaladeepika's favourable houses.
• Capricorn, Libra, Leo, Gemini and Aries gain through the Aquarius padas.
• Aquarius, Libra, Leo and Gemini should take care in the first half, and Pisces, Scorpio, Virgo and Cancer in the second.

Dhanishta measures worth in effort, and the transit shows what a person values enough to work for, with the money being the smaller part of the lesson.

The Vasus are honoured by generosity with the elements they govern: light a lamp, offer water, feed with grain. Japa of Om Brihaspataye Namah on Thursday and Parashara's dana of yellow cloth, turmeric or gram remain the base. Hanuman on Tuesday steadies the lord, and a gift to a musician honours the drum and the flute.
