What Saturn in Pushya nakshatra means
Pushya is Saturn's own nakshatra, and the graha is at home here even in Cancer, the sign of its enemy the Moon. The deity is Brihaspati, the priest of the gods, and the symbols are a cow's udder and a lotus. Muhurta Chintamani allows nearly every undertaking in Pushya, marriage excepted.
Pushya nourishes. Its themes are sustenance, care, the duties of a householder, the priest's steadiness and the milk that feeds the young. Saturn here gives structure to nourishment. The family is provided for by patient work, elders are looked after, and a vow taken now holds for years.
About a year goes on the crossing, usually in two or three visits split by the retrograde. Within the two and a half years in Cancer, this middle third is the part that goes well. The chest and digestion trouble that Cancer brings is quieter here.
From the Moon, Leo, Cancer and Gemini Moon signs are in Sade Sati, with Cancer in the middle phase. Pushya is the gentlest stretch of it. Aries Moons have Saturn in the fourth and Sagittarius Moons in the eighth. Taurus, Aquarius and Virgo Moons and lagnas receive Saturn in the third, sixth and eleventh, the houses Phaladeepika names as favourable.
What the transit shows is one's capacity to provide without resentment. Saturn in its own nakshatra reveals the householder in the person, and whether duty is carried as weight or as offering.
Feeding others is the remedy. Cook for the old and the poor, give milk on Monday and sesame on Saturday, and keep a sesame oil lamp on Saturday evening. Recite Om Sham Shanaishcharaya Namah, honour Brihaspati with the study of a text, and let Hanuman on Saturday keep the practice regular.
