What Venus in Pushya nakshatra means
Pushya sits in Cancer, the Moon's sign. Its deity is Brihaspati, priest of the gods, its lord is Saturn, and its symbol is a cow's udder, or a lotus. Saturn is a friend of Venus in Parashara's table. The Moon, lord of the sign, is an enemy, so Venus is supported by the nakshatra and cooled by the sign.
Nourishment is the theme. Venus here gives comfort through food, milk, the mother's house and the company of the old. Wealth comes slowly and stays. Marriage is steadied, and an established relationship gains the patience Saturn lends, over a stay of around eleven days.
Pushya is the nakshatra the muhurta texts praise above the rest for almost every undertaking. Muhurta Chintamani leaves it out of the list for a wedding, and that one exception should be kept. Purchases of a house, of gold and of a vehicle are well timed, and so is any beginning that needs to last.
From the Moon, Cancer, Gemini, Taurus, Aries, Pisces, Sagittarius, Scorpio, Virgo and Leo Moons hold Venus in a house Phaladeepika calls favourable for it.
