Venus Transit in Pushya

Pushya sits in Cancer, the Moon's sign. Its deity is Brihaspati, priest of the gods, its lord is Saturn, and its symbol is a cow's udder or a lotus. Saturn is a friend of Venus in Parashara's table. The Moon, lord of the sign, is an enemy, so Venus is supported by the nakshatra and cooled by the sign.

Nourishment is the theme. Venus gives comfort through food, milk, the mother's house and the company of the old, and wealth comes slowly and stays. Over a stay of around eleven days, marriage is steadied and an established relationship gains the patience Saturn lends.

The muhurta texts praise Pushya above the rest for almost every undertaking, and Muhurta Chintamani leaves it out of the list for a wedding, an exception that should be kept. Buying a house, gold or a vehicle is well timed. So is any beginning that needs to last.

From the Moon, Cancer, Gemini, Taurus, Aries, Pisces, Sagittarius, Scorpio, Virgo and Leo Moons hold Venus in a house Phaladeepika calls favourable for it. Aquarius, Capricorn and Libra Moons have it in the sixth, seventh and tenth. For them the days ask restraint with money and with a partner's requests. Lagnas follow the same count.

The transit shows a person's relationship to being fed. For a few days the pattern is in plain sight, which is enough to begin working on it.

Recite Om Shukraya Namah on Friday, and give milk or rice to someone who cooks for others. Brihaspati is honoured by respect to one's own teacher. Lakshmi is pleased by a clean kitchen and a debt repaid on time.
