What Jupiter in Pushya nakshatra means

Brihaspati himself is the deity of Pushya, and Jupiter transiting it is the guru returning to his own seat. The nakshatra lies in Cancer, the sign of Jupiter's exaltation, and its lord is Saturn, who is neutral toward Jupiter. The symbols are a cow's udder and a lotus. Brihat Jataka places the deepest exaltation at the fifth degree of Cancer, which falls inside Pushya.

The stay is short, about two months, and many count it the finest Jupiter transit of the twelve-year cycle. Wealth, children, teachers and dharma all prosper together. Agreements made now hold, a child conceived now is well protected, and a sadhana begun now takes root. Saturn's rule keeps the gains sober and lasting.

Gemini, Pisces, Capricorn, Scorpio and Virgo Moons and lagnas have Jupiter in the second, fifth, seventh, ninth and eleventh, Phaladeepika's favourable houses. Cancer Moons carry an exalted Jupiter in the first, a grace for health and standing. Leo Moons have it in the twelfth and Sagittarius Moons in the eighth, where even this Jupiter spends before it earns.

Readiness to be taught is what Pushya reads in a person. Those who have kept faith through harder transits find the reward arriving now, quietly and without effort.

Remedy is gratitude made visible. Feed a teacher, or feed students in a teacher's name. Recite Om Brihaspataye Namah on Thursday and give yellow cloth, turmeric or gram as Parashara prescribes. A lotus offered to the guru's picture fits the nakshatra, and so does a promise kept to the mother.
