What Ketu in Pushya nakshatra means
Pushya sits in the middle of Cancer, ruled by Saturn, with Brihaspati as its deity and a cow's udder as its symbol. Saturn is neutral toward Mars, and Ketu takes the Kujavat relationships, so the lord is indifferent. The Moon owns the sign and is a friend. The most nourishing star of the zodiac receives the graha of renunciation.
Around eight months pass in the stay, backward from the fourth pada to the first. When the true node runs direct for some weeks the stay splits into two visits. Rahu stands in Shravana at the same time and slides back into Uttara Ashadha for the second half.
Pushya's themes are nourishment, teaching, care, the priesthood and quiet prosperity. Ketu here nourishes without wanting to be fed. A person gives freely and asks for nothing, and Brihaspati's counsel arrives from within, without a teacher's voice. Milk, food and money flow out of the house more than in, and this is right for the time.
Taurus, Aquarius and Virgo Moons receive Ketu in the third, sixth and eleventh, the houses Phaladeepika allows to Saturn and to the nodes. Cancer Moons carry Ketu on the lagna and Rahu in the seventh, and the mother, the home and the sense of belonging are touched. Capricorn Moons have Rahu on the lagna and Ketu on the partner. Leo Moons hold Ketu in the twelfth and Sagittarius Moons in the eighth, and the lagna is read the same way.
The question the stay puts is whether one can be fed without holding on. The remedy is Ganesha and Om Kem Ketave Namah, with Guru's mantra on Thursday for the deity of the star. Parashara prescribes mantra and dana for Ketu, a blanket, sesame or food for dogs on Tuesday. Feed those who teach.
