Mars Transit in Purva Phalguni

Purva Phalguni is Venus's nakshatra, with Bhaga as its deity and the front legs of a cot as its symbol. It lies in Leo. Mars is neutral toward Venus and a friend of the Sun, the sign lord, so the transit is comfortable and a little indulgent. Bhaga is the god of enjoyment, marriage and good fortune.

Mars stays about three and a half weeks, up to six when a retrograde lands here. Pleasure, romance, art, performance and rest are the themes, and Mars pushes hard for enjoyment now. Marriage proposals, celebrations and creative projects gather energy. So do quarrels between lovers.

The heart and the upper back are the body areas, with the reproductive system through Venus. Overspending on pleasure and anger from wounded vanity are the particular hazards, and children's matters, which Leo governs, need a calm hand.

Gemini, Pisces and Libra Moons and lagnas have Mars in the third, sixth and eleventh, and their pleasures come with gains. Leo Moons feel Mars on the self and may spend and love impulsively. Taurus, Aquarius and Capricorn Moons have Mars in the fourth, seventh and eighth and should keep partnership and finances steady.

Enjoyment is the subject of these weeks. Purva Phalguni asks whether a person can rest without guilt and enjoy without excess, and Mars makes both harder and shows which way the person leans.

Honour Bhaga with generosity: a gift given freely on Friday. Hanuman on Tuesday, Om Angarakaya Namah and Parashara's dana of red lentils or copper serve Mars. Take rest deliberately, at a fixed hour, and the transit gives its best.
