What Mars in Vishakha nakshatra means

Vishakha belongs to Jupiter, a friend of Mars. Indra and Agni share its rule, and a triumphal arch and a potter's wheel are its symbols. Three padas lie in Libra, Venus's sign, and the fourth in Scorpio, Mars's own. The stay begins in a neutral field and ends at home.

Mars stays about nineteen days. Vishakha is the nakshatra of the goal, and its themes are ambition, single-minded pursuit, victory and the jealousy that follows it. Mars is at ease with such a purpose. Campaigns, competitions, examinations and legal contests come to a head.

The cost is what is neglected on the way. Relationships suffer in the Libra padas, and in the Scorpio pada the pursuit turns secretive. The kidneys and the reproductive organs are the body areas to watch.

Leo, Taurus and Sagittarius Moons and lagnas have Mars in the third, sixth and eleventh during the Libra padas. In the Scorpio pada those places pass to Virgo, Gemini and Capricorn. Phaladeepika lists these three houses as Mars's favourable transit positions, read from the Moon and from the lagna. Libra and Scorpio Moons carry the graha on the self in turn.

The shape of one's wanting is what comes out. Vishakha reveals what a person will sacrifice for a goal, and Mars reveals it fast. Watching this without judgement is a sadhana in itself, and Jupiter's lordship gives the wisdom to do so.

Honour Indra and Agni with a small fire offering, and Hanuman on Tuesday. Recite Om Angarakaya Namah, and give red lentils or copper on Tuesday. Keep one appointment with a friend that has nothing to do with the goal.
