What Mars in Revati nakshatra means

Revati is the last nakshatra, ruled by Mercury, with Pushan as its deity and a fish as its symbol. It lies in Pisces, Jupiter's sign. Mercury is an enemy of Mars and Jupiter a friend, so the lord resists the graha and the sign receives it. Pushan is the guide of travellers and herds, the god who finds what is lost.

Mars stays about eighteen days. Revati's themes are nourishment on the road, safe travel, the care of animals, and the closing of a cycle before Ashwini. Mars hurries the closing. Accounts are settled, a long trip is made in haste, and the ground is cleared for a start that has not been chosen.

The feet and the lymphatic system are the body areas. Injuries to the feet, accidents on the road and sleeplessness are the classical warnings. The last degrees are gandanta, the junction with Aries, and the final days of the stay are unsettled.

Capricorn, Libra and Taurus Moons and lagnas have Mars in the third, sixth and eleventh, the houses Phaladeepika names as favourable. Their travels and disputes end well. Pisces Moons carry the graha on the self and tire from too much movement. Sagittarius, Virgo and Leo Moons, with Mars in the fourth, seventh and eighth, should travel with care and finish nothing in anger.

The transit shows how the person finishes. Revati is where things are completed, and Mars in it reveals whether the person completes with care or abandons at the end. A gentle nakshatra under a hard graha shows the harshness plainly, and seeing it is most of the remedy.

Honour Pushan by feeding a traveller or an animal on the road, and worship Hanuman on Tuesday. Recite Om Angarakaya Namah before setting out, and give red lentils or copper, the dana for Mars. Whatever is left unfinished is carried into Ashwini, where Mars begins again with less patience.
