What Venus in Revati nakshatra means

Revati closes the zodiac in the last third of Pisces. Pushan, the Aditya who guards travellers and herds, is its deity, Mercury is its lord, and its symbol is a fish, or a drum. The deep exaltation degree of Venus falls within Revati, and Mercury is a friend of Venus in Parashara's table. Jupiter, lord of the sign, is neutral, so Venus is here at its highest and among friends.

Everything Venus signifies is at its sweetest for these eleven days or so. Marriage, art, music, wealth held with generosity, and comfort given to others come easily. Travel for pleasure goes well under Pushan, who brings the herd home. Money flows out as readily as in, since exalted Venus is generous to a fault.

Revati is a mridu nakshatra in muhurta. Muhurta Chintamani counts it fit for a wedding, for travel and for the wearing of new clothes and ornaments. The last pada ends at the gandanta with Ashwini, and Venus there is ready to fall into Aries and lose its ease. A purchase, a promise or a proposal is best made before the last pada.

The quality of one's generosity comes into view. Some give in order to be loved and some give because there is enough. Venus at its height lets each person see which is true.

Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn, Sagittarius, Scorpio, Leo, Cancer, Taurus and Aries Moons hold Venus in Phaladeepika's favourable houses and receive the exaltation in full. Libra, Virgo and Gemini Moons have it in the sixth, seventh and tenth. Their share is a partner's or a superior's good fortune more than their own. Lagnas count the same.

The remedy, when Venus is this well placed, is gratitude and giving. Say Om Shukraya Namah on Friday, give rice or curd to a traveller, and pray to Pushan for those on the road.
