What Ketu in Revati nakshatra means

Revati closes the zodiac in Pisces. Mercury rules it, Pushan is its deity, and a fish or a drum is its symbol. Mercury is Mars's enemy, and Ketu, which acts like Mars, is received coldly by the lord of the star. Jupiter owns the sign and is a friend, so the ground is kinder than the lord.

Ketu comes into Revati from Ashwini, its own star, across the gandanta at the zodiac's seam. The stay runs around seven months, from the fourth pada to the first, sometimes in two visits when the true node runs direct. Rahu stands in Chitra for the first half and in Hasta for the second.

Revati's themes are the road, safe passage, nourishment, the care of animals, and the completion of a cycle. Pushan guides travellers and the dead. Ketu here ends the road: a guide is lost, or outgrown, and the person walks the last stretch alone. Cycles that began long ago finish now, and the finishing is quiet.

The stay asks whether one can arrive without being led. The transit removes the guide and asks the person to trust what the guide taught.

Capricorn, Libra and Taurus Moons receive Ketu in the third, sixth and eleventh, the houses Phaladeepika gives as favourable. Pisces Moons carry Ketu on the lagna and Rahu in the seventh, and should watch the feet, the lymph and the marriage. Virgo Moons have Rahu on the lagna and Ketu on the partner. Aries Moons hold Ketu in the twelfth and Leo Moons in the eighth, and the lagna is counted the same way.

The remedy is Ganesha and Om Kem Ketave Namah, with food given to animals for Pushan. The dana for Ketu is a blanket, sesame or food for dogs on Tuesday. The gandanta weeks at the start of the stay ask for no new beginnings on the road.
