Mercury Transit in Uttara Ashadha

The Vishvadevas, the all-gods, are the deities of Uttara Ashadha, and the Sun is its lord. Its symbols are an elephant's tusk and the planks of a bed. One pada lies in Sagittarius and three in Capricorn, so Mercury passes from Jupiter's sign into Saturn's, both neutral to it, and the Sun as lord is Mercury's friend. That friendship carries the stay.

The stay is about eight days, stretched to a month by a retrograde. Uttara Ashadha is the victory that lasts. It is the later victory, won by many together, and Mercury's work here is the long document: the policy, the plan that others will follow after the writer is gone.

Muhurta Chintamani counts the nakshatra dhruva, fixed, and the days suit foundations, coronations, a lasting agreement and the planting of trees. In the Capricorn padas Mercury's speech turns official and the person writes for an office, with government, administration and law as the trade of the week.

• Sagittarius pada: Scorpio, Virgo, Cancer, Taurus, Pisces and Aquarius Moons hold Mercury in Phaladeepika's favourable houses.
• Capricorn padas: Sagittarius, Libra, Leo, Gemini, Aries and Pisces Moons gain.
• Capricorn, Scorpio, Virgo, Cancer, Taurus and Aquarius Moons have the harder houses for most of the stay. They should not sign what they have not read to the end.

The lagna gives the same count.

Can a person work for a result they will not see? The Vishvadevas give slow returns, and this transit asks exactly that.

The remedy is a task done for a group with no name on it. Recite Om Budhaya Namah, worship Vishnu, and give green cloth or moong on Wednesday. Water to the rising Sun honours the lord of the nakshatra, and so does reading the Aditya Hridaya once in the week.
