Rahu Transit in Cancer

Cancer is the Moon's sign, and the usual lists make Rahu neutral toward the Moon. Rahu is also the Moon's eclipser. In the Moon's own house it clouds the mind. For about a year and a half the sign's themes are inflated and disturbed: home, mother, security, property and belonging.

Ketu stands in Capricorn, the sign of career and public duty. Rahu craves emotional intensity and new surroundings, and Ketu loses interest in ambition and status. The person may leave a secure position for a feeling, or move house for reasons that do not last. Restlessness at home and a pull toward foreign residence are common.

The nakshatras are Punarvasu, Pushya and Ashlesha. Rahu moves backward and enters Cancer at Ashlesha, the serpent's nakshatra ruled by Mercury and its most natural home in the sign. Manipulation, secrecy and hidden fears peak in that opening third, Pushya, ruled by Saturn, is the steadiest third, and the stay ends in the last pada of Punarvasu.

Rahu's favourable transit houses, the third, sixth and eleventh from the Moon, fall to Taurus, Aquarius and Virgo Moon signs. Cancer Moons carry Rahu in the first house, a hard placement for peace of mind. Capricorn Moons have Ketu in the first and Rahu in the seventh, where partnership is unsettled. Sagittarius Moons meet Rahu in the eighth and Leo Moons in the twelfth, and the lagna is read the same way.

Rahu in Cancer tests how much the mind depends on feeling secure, and it can take outer security away to show it. A steady practice keeps the mind settled through any change of address.

The remedy is care of the mother and the mind. Worship Durga, recite Om Ram Rahave Namah, and give dark cloth and sesame on Saturday. Keep the home clean, sleep at a fixed hour, and avoid intoxicants, which Rahu in a water sign favours.
