Sun Transit in Sagittarius

Sagittarius belongs to Jupiter, and the Sun counts Jupiter a friend. Surya is well placed here for about twenty-nine days, the shortest of the twelve solar months. Dhanu Sankranti opens the period the tradition calls Dhanurmasa, when marriages and new ceremonies pause across much of Nepal and India.

Sagittarius governs the thighs, dharma, teaching and long travel. The Sun in this sign raises questions of purpose over questions of gain, and study of the shastras goes well under it. Pilgrimage and teaching both carry more weight this month than usual.

The nakshatras are Mula, Purva Ashadha and Uttara Ashadha. Mula, under Ketu, opens the stay by pulling at roots, sometimes painfully. Purva Ashadha, under Venus, brings conviction and the strength to argue for it. Uttara Ashadha belongs to the Sun and closes the stay with lasting results.

Phaladeepika places the Sun well in the third, sixth, tenth and eleventh from the Moon. Libra, Cancer, Pisces and Aquarius Moons receive it in those houses. Gemini Moons carry it in the seventh. Sagittarius Moons hold it in the first, where the hips and thighs ask for care.

The month shows a person what they actually believe, and belief held from habit loosens here. What remains is the person's own. The pause on outer ceremony leaves room for inner work, and read one text through to its end.
