What Ketu in Punarvasu nakshatra means
Punarvasu belongs to Jupiter, and Jupiter is a friend to Mars, so Ketu, by the Kujavat rule, is well received by the lord. Aditi, mother of the gods, is its deity, and a bow with its quiver is the symbol. Three padas lie in Gemini, owned by Mercury, an enemy, and the fourth in Cancer, owned by the Moon, a friend.
Ketu moves backward, entering Punarvasu in Cancer at the fourth pada and leaving from the first pada in Gemini, after about eight months. The true node's direct spells sometimes split it into two visits. Rahu stands in Uttara Ashadha at the same time and moves back into Purva Ashadha for the second half.
Punarvasu means the return of light, the arrow that comes back to the quiver. Its themes are renewal, second chances, home and safety, and Ketu here gives the return without the wish to go out again. A person comes home, to a place or a practice, and finds no further wish to leave. Renunciation under this star is gentle and looks like rest.
Ketu takes away the substitute homes, and what remains is the one Aditi keeps.
In the Cancer pada, Taurus, Aquarius and Virgo Moons receive Ketu in the third, sixth and eleventh, which Phaladeepika names favourable. Cancer Moons then have Ketu on the lagna and Rahu in the seventh, with Capricorn Moons the reverse. In the Gemini padas the favourable houses pass to Aries, Capricorn and Leo Moons, with Gemini and Sagittarius on the axis. Count the lagna the same way.
The remedy is Ganesha and Om Kem Ketave Namah, and the guru, since Jupiter rules the star. Give a blanket, sesame or food for dogs on Tuesday. Time given to one's mother is the practice Aditi asks for.
