What Ketu in Shravana nakshatra means
Shravana is the Moon's nakshatra in Capricorn, with Vishnu as its deity and an ear, or three footprints, as its symbol. The Moon is a friend of Mars, and Ketu takes the Kujavat relationships, so the lord of the star is warm toward the graha. Saturn owns the sign and is neutral.
Around seven months pass in the stay, backward from the fourth pada to the first. A direct spell of the true node can split it into two visits. Rahu stands in Ashlesha for the first half and in Pushya for the second.
Shravana hears. Its themes are listening, learning by the ear, tradition passed by word of mouth, reputation, and the bond between speaker and hearer. Under Ketu the ear turns inward. The person stops wanting to be heard, and the wish for name and fame, which Shravana feeds, goes quiet for a season.
A teacher may leave, or a source of instruction may close, and what was heard over years is finally understood. The ears need care. Silence serves better than speech now, and the most useful sadhana is to listen to one text, read aloud, until it is known.
The stay brings up what one has already heard and never used. The remedy is Ganesha and Om Kem Ketave Namah, and the Vishnu Sahasranama heard in another's voice before it is recited. Parashara prescribes mantra and dana for Ketu; give a blanket, sesame or food for dogs on Tuesday.
Scorpio, Leo and Pisces Moons receive Ketu in the third, sixth and eleventh, the houses Phaladeepika names favourable. Capricorn Moons carry Ketu on the lagna and Rahu in the seventh, and should watch the knees, the ears and the marriage. Cancer Moons have Rahu on the lagna and Ketu on the partner. Aquarius Moons hold Ketu in the twelfth and Gemini Moons in the eighth; read the lagna the same way.
