What Ketu in Jyeshtha nakshatra means

Jyeshtha closes Scorpio, and its last pada ends at the gandanta where water meets fire. Mercury rules it, Indra is its deity, and an earring or an umbrella is its symbol. Mercury is Mars's enemy, and Ketu, which acts like Mars, is received coldly by the lord of the star. Mars owns the sign and gives the graha ground.

Ketu comes in from Mula, its own star, across the gandanta, enters at the fourth pada and leaves from the first. The crossing takes around seven months, sometimes in two visits when the true node runs direct. Rahu stands in Mrigashira for the first half and in Rohini for the second.

Jyeshtha is the eldest: rank, seniority, protection given to those below, and the weight that comes with being the one others lean on. Ketu here takes the umbrella away. A senior post is left, or held without any wish to keep it, and those sheltered under it find their own shade. Secrets kept for others come out, and the one always in charge is allowed to be nobody for a season.

The stay shows whether one's authority was service or need. The office goes and the person remains.

Virgo, Gemini and Capricorn Moons meet Ketu in the third, sixth and eleventh, Phaladeepika's favourable houses. Scorpio Moons carry Ketu on the lagna and Rahu in the seventh, and should watch the marriage, the ears and the lower abdomen. Taurus Moons have Rahu on the lagna and Ketu on the partner. Sagittarius Moons hold Ketu in the twelfth and Aries Moons in the eighth; read the lagna by the same count.

The remedy is Ganesha and Om Kem Ketave Namah, with Parashara's dana for Ketu, a blanket, sesame or food for dogs on Tuesday. Serve an elder who once served you. The gandanta weeks at the start ask for stillness in decisions.
