What Ketu in Swati nakshatra means

Swati is Rahu's own nakshatra in Libra, with Vayu as its deity and a young shoot in the wind as its symbol. Ketu here stands on its counterpart's ground, the other end of its own axis. Venus owns the sign and is neutral toward Mars, whose nature Ketu takes.

Around seven months pass in the stay, backward from the fourth pada to the first. The true node's direct spells sometimes split it into two visits. Rahu stands in Bharani for the first half and in Ashwini, Ketu's own star, for the second.

Swati scatters and carries, and its themes are independence, trade, movement, diplomacy and the wind. Under Ketu the wind drops. The person who wanted to be free of every tie finds the ties gone, and the freedom is quieter than expected. Trade loses its pull, travel happens without wanting to, and independence turns into solitude.

The stay tests whether one's independence was a wish or a habit. Ketu in Swati grants it fully and lets the person see how it feels.

Leo, Taurus and Sagittarius Moons receive Ketu in the third, sixth and eleventh, the houses Phaladeepika names favourable. Libra Moons carry Ketu on the lagna and Rahu on the partner, and the kidneys, the skin and the marriage need care. Aries Moons have Rahu on the lagna and Ketu in the seventh, where a partner withdraws. Scorpio Moons hold Ketu in the twelfth and Pisces Moons in the eighth, and the lagna is read the same way.

The remedy is Ganesha and Om Kem Ketave Namah, with pranayama each morning for Vayu. Parashara prescribes mantra and dana for Ketu; the traditional gifts are a blanket, sesame or food for dogs on Tuesday. Do not sign trade agreements in the first weeks, and let the wind settle before deciding where to go.
