What Mercury in Vishakha nakshatra means

Vishakha has two deities, Indra and Agni, and two symbols, a triumphal arch and a potter's wheel. Jupiter is its lord. Three padas lie in Libra, a friend's sign for Mercury, and the last in Scorpio, ruled by Mars, whom Mercury counts neutral. Mercury counts Jupiter neutral as well, and Jupiter counts Mercury an enemy, so the nakshatra lord gives the guest little help.

The usual stay is about nine days. Vishakha is purpose: the goal seen through the arch and the effort of the wheel to reach it. Mercury turns its intellect to strategy, to persuasion in service of a cause, and to the writing of plans. Trade done for a larger aim, and study aimed at a qualification, both do well.

Muhurta Chintamani counts Vishakha mishra, mixed, and the days serve ordinary work, fire rites and firm speech, with no special favour for soft beginnings. The Scorpio pada turns the aim inward and the mind becomes secretive about what it wants.

Virgo, Cancer, Taurus, Pisces, Capricorn and Sagittarius Moons hold Mercury in Phaladeepika's favourable houses for the Libra padas. Libra, Leo, Gemini, Aries, Aquarius and Scorpio Moons have the harder houses then. In the Scorpio pada the gaining Moons are Libra, Leo, Gemini, Aries, Aquarius and Capricorn. Scorpio, Virgo, Cancer, Taurus, Pisces and Sagittarius Moons take care then, and the lagna is counted the same way.

The transit shows what a person wants badly enough to plan for. A clear aim makes Mercury a fine servant. An aim the person will not admit to makes it a schemer, and the week shows which is present.

The remedy is to write the aim down in one sentence and judge it. Recite Om Budhaya Namah, worship Vishnu, and give green cloth or moong on Wednesday. A lamp to Agni and a prayer to Indra for strength of purpose honour the deities, and a Thursday offering pleases the nakshatra lord.
