Mercury Transit in Mula

Mula opens Sagittarius with a bundle of roots for its symbol and Nirriti, the goddess of dissolution, for its deity. Ketu is the lord. Mercury is neutral toward Ketu in the usual lists, and neutral toward Jupiter, the lord of the sign. Jupiter counts Mercury an enemy, and the graha is in a house where it is tolerated more than welcomed.

The stay is about nine days. Mula pulls things up by the root, and Mercury's work here is the search for the cause. That means the fault beneath the fault, the clause that started the dispute, the belief beneath the habit. Research, philosophy and the first honest accounting of a failure do well; communication can be blunt to the point of destruction.

Scorpio, Virgo, Cancer, Taurus, Pisces and Aquarius Moons and lagnas hold Mercury in the favourable houses Phaladeepika lists from Sagittarius. Sagittarius, Libra, Leo, Gemini, Aries and Capricorn Moons have the first, third, fifth, seventh, ninth and twelfth. They should pull no root they cannot replace.

The transit shows a person's willingness to look at the cause of their own trouble. Most look away within a day. The person who keeps looking gains the most this nakshatra can give.

The remedy begins with Ganesha, the deity for Ketu, worshipped at the start of the stay. Recite Om Budhaya Namah, worship Vishnu, and give green cloth or moong on Wednesday. Food for dogs, and a plain admission of one's own part in a failure, please Nirriti more than any rite.
