What Jupiter in Uttara Ashadha nakshatra means

Uttara Ashadha begins in the last pada of Sagittarius and continues through the first ten degrees of Capricorn. The Sun rules it, a friend of Jupiter, and the Vishvadevas preside. The symbols are an elephant's tusk and the planks of a bed. Jupiter enters strong in its own sign and, at the boundary, passes into its sign of debilitation.

Brihat Jataka places the deepest debilitation at the fifth degree of Capricorn, which falls inside this nakshatra. Jupiter's judgement bends toward practical ends, and the graha counsels what will work before what is right. The result is a later victory, won through duty and endurance.

The stay lasts about four to five months, and the retrograde often turns it into more than one visit. Careers advance through government, officers and fathers. A teacher may be replaced by an employer, and faith by procedure. A child takes on responsibility early.

Scorpio, Leo, Gemini, Aries and Aquarius Moons have the first pada in Phaladeepika's favourable houses. Once Jupiter crosses into Capricorn, the gain passes to Sagittarius, Virgo, Cancer, Taurus and Pisces Moons and lagnas. Capricorn Moons carry a debilitated Jupiter in the first. Aquarius, Libra, Leo and Gemini Moons hold it in the twelfth, fourth, sixth and eighth, and should not lend on another's word.

What a person does with a principle when it no longer pays is the reading here. Uttara Ashadha tests one's sense of dharma against the ledger.

The Vishvadevas are honoured by hospitality and by the daily offerings of the householder. Japa of Om Brihaspataye Namah on Thursday and Parashara's dana of yellow cloth, turmeric or gram are the graha's remedies. Water offered to the rising Sun with Om Suryaya Namah strengthens the lord. A promise kept at a loss honours the Sun's rule over the nakshatra.
