What Jupiter in Shravana nakshatra means
Shravana lies in the middle of Capricorn, from the tenth to the twenty-third degree. Vishnu is its deity, the Moon its lord, and the symbols are an ear and three footprints. The Moon is a friend of Jupiter, so a debilitated Jupiter in Shravana is at least held by a friendly lord.
Debilitation weakens Jupiter's confidence in Capricorn, and Saturn's sign asks the guru to work for a wage. Shravana turns that weakness into listening. The stay, about four to five months and often split by the retrograde, is a time of learning by ear. An elder, a text read aloud, a rule of the trade: teachers appear in ordinary dress.
Wealth comes through employment and through steady, recorded work. Children are guided toward a trade. Faith shows as obedience to a lineage. Phaladeepika's rules for the cancellation of debilitation turn on the dispositor, so Saturn's condition in the birth chart decides how much Jupiter can give.
Whether a person can be taught by someone of lower station is the question of the stay. In Shravana wisdom learns by keeping quiet.
Vishnu is honoured by reading or hearing scripture, the Vishnu Sahasranama on Thursday above all. Add japa of Om Brihaspataye Namah and Parashara's dana of yellow cloth, turmeric or gram. Serve an old teacher with time, and listen more than one speaks, which is the whole discipline of the nakshatra.
Sagittarius, Virgo, Cancer, Taurus and Pisces Moons and lagnas have Jupiter in the second, fifth, seventh, ninth and eleventh. Capricorn Moons hold it weak in the first and gain by patience. Aquarius, Libra, Leo and Gemini Moons, with the twelfth, fourth, sixth and eighth, should take advice before they take a loan.
