Sun Transit in Swati

The Sun's deepest debilitation falls in Swati, the young shoot in the wind, in Libra. Rahu rules the nakshatra and Vayu is its deity. Venus is an enemy of the Sun and the usual lists make Rahu one as well, and Brihat Jataka places the debilitation point at ten degrees of Libra, inside Swati. This is the weakest fortnight of the Sun's year.

The stay lasts about two weeks. Authority bends.

A father defers, and the person in charge finds the decision taken elsewhere. Trade, the market and the opinion of others carry the weight. Vayu keeps everything moving, so the fortnight favours travel, dealing and independent work. The heart and the eyes are weaker in a debilitated Sun, and the change of season brings fever, so health asks for care. In some years Diwali falls during this stay, and the lamps are lit at the Sun's lowest.

Leo, Taurus, Capricorn and Sagittarius Moons have the Sun in the third, sixth, tenth and eleventh, the houses Phaladeepika calls favourable. Libra Moons carry it in the first house. Scorpio, Pisces and Cancer Moons hold the twelfth, eighth and fourth and should guard spending, health and the home, and the lagna is read by the same count.

The atma is unsupported in Swati. Anyone who has depended on position feels that most.

Offer water to the rising Sun each morning, and recite the Aditya Hridaya daily through the stay. Give wheat and jaggery on Sunday. For Vayu, practise pranayama at dawn, and worship Hanuman on Tuesday, since the son of the wind restores strength.
