What Venus in Mula nakshatra means

Mula opens Sagittarius from the gandanta that ends Scorpio. Nirriti, the goddess of dissolution, is its deity, Ketu is its lord, and its symbol is a bundle of roots. Ketu is read as Mars, neutral to Venus, and Jupiter, lord of the sign, is neutral as well. Venus has no friend here and no enemy, and the nakshatra's own nature does the work.

The root is pulled up. Venus in Mula takes a relationship, a comfort or an expense back to its source and asks what it was for. Attachments that had no root come away easily in these eleven days or so. Money goes into research, medicine made from roots, and the settling of old matters.

Mula is tikshna in muhurta, sharp, and suits the cutting of what has failed. Muhurta Chintamani still lists it for a wedding. The first pada, at the gandanta, is the least steady and is best kept for reflection.

Sagittarius, Scorpio, Libra, Virgo, Leo, Taurus, Aries, Aquarius and Capricorn Moons hold Venus in the houses Phaladeepika calls favourable. For them the uprooting is mostly of what they were ready to lose. Cancer, Gemini and Pisces Moons have Venus in the sixth, seventh and tenth from the Moon. For them a partnership or a position is tested at its base, and the lagna is counted the same way.

The person sees, over these days, what their desire is rooted in. Some find the root is fear, some find it is habit, and a few find it is real. The remedy is Om Shukraya Namah, rice or white cloth given on Friday, and an offering to Nirriti naming what one will release. Ketu's own remedy, food for dogs, is a fitting addition.
