What Moon in Mula nakshatra means
Mula opens Sagittarius, Jupiter's sign, and its first degrees are gandanta, the knot after Scorpio. Ketu rules it, Nirriti, the goddess of dissolution, is its deity, and its symbol is a bundle of roots. Ketu stands outside Parashara's table, and the Moon meets it as a stranger. Jupiter's sign is neutral ground for the Moon, and Jupiter counts the Moon a friend, which steadies the day.
Muhurta Chintamani classes Mula as tikshna, sharp. The sharp days serve separation, fierce mantra sadhana, the uprooting of a disease or a habit, and the handling of what must be destroyed. They do not serve marriage, a house entry, travel or a gentle start. The Moon stays about a day, and the mind digs.
From the birth nakshatra, Mula is sampat for Ashlesha, Jyeshtha and Revati, and kshema for Punarvasu, Vishakha and Purva Bhadrapada. Sadhana falls to Mrigashira, Chitra and Dhanishta. It is mitra for Krittika, Uttara Phalguni and Uttara Ashadha, and parama mitra for Bharani, Purva Phalguni and Purva Ashadha.
Pushya, Anuradha and Uttara Bhadrapada have vipat; Ardra, Swati and Shatabhisha have pratyak; Rohini, Hasta and Shravana have naidhana. Ashwini, Magha and Mula births have their janma tara.
The day shows what lies under the mind's habits, the root a person has never looked at. Nirriti removes the surface, and for someone willing to look, the removal is the gift. The fitting practice is an honest inventory of one pattern, written down, followed by the Moon's japa. Give sesame or a blanket, and do not start anything new.
