What Sun in Krittika nakshatra means

Krittika is the Sun's own nakshatra, the razor and the flame, with Agni as its deity. Its first pada is in Aries and the remaining three in Taurus, so the Sun leaves exaltation partway through at Vrishabha Sankranti. Venus, lord of Taurus, is an enemy of the Sun. The graha is at home in the nakshatra and a guest in the sign.

The stay lasts about two weeks. Agni purifies by burning, and the Sun here cuts away what is false in position, reputation and health. Criticism is sharp and often correct. Digestion, fever and inflammation of the eyes are the common complaints.

The Krittikas raised Kartikeya, and the nakshatra gives the Sun a commander's directness that serves anyone with a clear task. Orders given in this fortnight are obeyed. Orders given in anger are obeyed too, which is the danger.

In the Aries pada the Moon signs Aquarius, Scorpio, Cancer and Gemini gain, holding the Sun in the third, sixth, tenth and eleventh. Once the Sun is in Taurus, Pisces, Sagittarius, Leo and Cancer Moons take those houses. Taurus Moons then have the Sun in the first, and Gemini, Libra and Aquarius Moons in the twelfth, eighth and fourth. Read the lagna the same way, and read the Moon first.

One's relationship to heat is what comes to light. The Sun in Krittika brings out the person's own fire, and the fortnight makes plain whether that fire is under control.

Light a lamp at dawn and recite Aditya Hridaya. Offer water to the rising Sun and, for Agni, feed a fire with ghee or cook for others. Give wheat, jaggery or copper on Sunday. Speak less than one knows and keep the criticism for one's own conduct.
