What Jupiter in Krittika nakshatra means

Agni presides over Krittika, the razor and the flame, and its lord is the Sun. The first pada lies in Aries and the remaining three in Taurus. The Sun is Jupiter's friend, so the graha meets a warm lord in a nakshatra that cuts. In the Aries pada the sign lord Mars is also a friend, and in the Taurus padas Venus, Jupiter's enemy, owns the ground.

The stay is about two months. Jupiter's wisdom is sharpened here. Teachers speak plainly, a long confusion is burned off, and a decision about study, a child or a legal matter is made cleanly. Agni is the priest of the gods, and ritual, yajna and the study of scripture go well under this transit.

The Taurus padas turn the fire to wealth and food. Income from teaching, counsel or the law rises, and the appetite rises with it. Jupiter in an enemy's sign tends to overreach.

For the Aries pada, Pisces, Sagittarius, Libra, Leo and Gemini Moons receive Jupiter in Phaladeepika's favourable houses. For the Taurus padas the same houses fall to Aries, Capricorn, Scorpio, Virgo and Cancer Moons. Taurus Moons have Jupiter in the first for most of the stay, and Gemini Moons in the twelfth, where a benefic spends. Lagnas are counted the same way.

Krittika shows what the person is ready to let go of, and how cleanly. Discrimination is Jupiter's, and this nakshatra makes it decisive.

Offer ghee to a lamp or to the household fire on Thursday and recite Om Brihaspataye Namah. Parashara's dana of yellow cloth, turmeric or gram is fitting. Eat moderately and speak the truth without heat.
