Sun Transit in Purva Bhadrapada

Jupiter rules Purva Bhadrapada, the front legs of the funeral cot and the sword, and Aja Ekapada is its deity. Three padas lie in Aquarius and the fourth in Pisces, so at the fourth pada the Sun leaves Saturn's sign for Jupiter's at Meena Sankranti. Jupiter is the Sun's friend. The graha's ease improves as the stay goes on.

Aja Ekapada, the one-footed goat, is counted among the Rudras in some lists. This ugra nakshatra is austerity taken to its edge, and over about two weeks the Sun's significations turn severe: a father is strict, government punishes, and whoever holds authority must hold a line at personal cost.

Tapas is the positive use. A fast, a vow of silence or a hard discipline of the body for a fixed term all go well with the Sun here. Anyone doing severe practice should have the heart checked. Anger undoes the merit.

In the Aquarius padas, Sagittarius, Virgo, Taurus and Aries Moons hold the third, sixth, tenth and eleventh, and in the Pisces pada those houses pass to Capricorn, Libra, Gemini and Taurus Moons. Aquarius and then Pisces Moons carry the Sun in the first. Aries Moons meet it in the twelfth once it enters Pisces, and the lagna is counted the same way.

The fortnight shows how a person uses severity. Used on oneself as tapas it purifies, and the fortnight asks that it be kept there.

Offer water to the rising Sun with Om Suryaya Namah. For Aja Ekapada, a Shiva abhisheka and a day of fasting. Give copper on Sunday, and keep speech mild.
