Sun Transit in Rohini

Rohini, the cart or chariot, is the Moon's nakshatra in Taurus, with Brahma the Prajapati as its deity. The Moon is the Sun's friend, so the Sun rests better here than in Krittika. Venus's sign still limits it. The stay lasts about two weeks.

In the north of India the Sun's entry into Rohini opens Nautapa, the nine days of greatest heat before the rains.

Rohini is about growth, cattle, crops, fertility and comfort, and the Sun presses on all of them. Water, food supply, farming and prices are the public themes. For the individual, the stay favours steady work that produces something, and the heat strains the eyes and the body.

Prajapati is the creator, and in his nakshatra the Sun's atma asks what one is producing. Authority shows itself through providing, so a father, an employer or an officer is judged this fortnight by what reaches the people under them.

Counted from the Moon, and again from the lagna, Pisces, Sagittarius, Leo and Cancer hold the third, sixth, tenth and eleventh, which Phaladeepika gives for gain. Taurus Moons carry the Sun in the first, Gemini in the twelfth, Libra in the eighth and Aquarius in the fourth, and these should look after health, spending and rest in the heat.

Offer water to the rising Sun, and water any plant or animal you keep. Recite Om Suryaya Namah and give wheat or jaggery on Sunday, and for Brahma, give food to students. Rest in the middle of the day.
