What Moon in Ashwini nakshatra means

Ashwini opens the zodiac at the first degree of Aries. Its deity is the pair of Ashwini Kumaras, physicians of the gods, its lord is Ketu, and its symbol is a horse's head. Parashara's table of natural friendship lists no enemy for the Moon. Ketu falls outside that table, so no friendship is counted here.

In muhurta Ashwini is a laghu nakshatra, light and quick. Muhurta Chintamani gives such days to work that should finish fast: trade, medicine, learning, craft, ornaments and short travel. The Moon stays about a day, restless and eager to begin. Long foundations and anything that must hold for years wait for a dhruva day.

Tara bala from the birth nakshatra:

  • Sampat for Ashlesha, Jyeshtha and Revati; kshema for Punarvasu, Vishakha and Purva Bhadrapada.
  • Sadhana for Mrigashira, Chitra and Dhanishta; mitra for Krittika, Uttara Phalguni and Uttara Ashadha.
  • Parama mitra for Bharani, Purva Phalguni and Purva Ashadha, the best day of the cycle for them.
  • Vipat for Pushya, Anuradha and Uttara Bhadrapada; pratyak for Ardra, Swati and Shatabhisha.
  • Naidhana for Rohini, Hasta and Shravana, who should hold back new work and travel.

Ashwini, Magha and Mula births have their janma tara, a mixed day best kept for routine.

Under this Moon the mind moves toward action quickly and waits for very little. A person sees their own impatience clearly, and that seeing is the use of the transit. Attend to the body, take the medicine that has been put off, and keep the Moon's japa, Om Som Somaya Namah, short and steady.
