What Venus in Mrigashira nakshatra means

Soma rules Mrigashira as deity, Mars as graha, and the symbol is a deer's head. The first two padas lie in Taurus and the last two in Gemini, so Venus crosses from its own sign into Mercury's. Mars is neutral to Venus in Parashara's table. Mercury, lord of the second half, is a friend.

The deer searches. Venus here goes looking for what pleases it, and the looking is often sweeter than the finding. Attractions begin from a scent, a voice, a line of poetry. Perfume, textiles, travel for pleasure and the trade in fine goods do well over the eleven days or so.

In the Taurus padas the search is for comfort and ends in a purchase. In the Gemini padas it is for conversation, and the transit favours courtship by letter and message. Restlessness is the cost, since the person wants and does not settle, and Soma's nectar seems always to be in the next place. A retrograde has once held Venus here for about three weeks, and the restlessness then lasts.

Sagittarius, Scorpio and Leo Moons should take care for the Taurus padas, and Capricorn, Sagittarius and Virgo Moons for the Gemini padas. Venus then sits in the sixth, seventh or tenth from them. The other Moon signs and lagnas hold Venus in houses Phaladeepika calls favourable, and Taurus and Gemini Moons have it in the first.

Mrigashira is a marriage nakshatra in Muhurta Chintamani, and a wedding fixed here under a strong Venus is well placed. The transit shows the restlessness of one's own desire, and how far it will travel for a small pleasure. The remedy is to bring the search home. Japa of Om Shukraya Namah, white cloth given on Friday, and an offering to Soma, or to the Moon at night, settle the deer.
