Jupiter Transit in Shatabhisha

Shatabhisha covers the middle of Aquarius. Rahu is its lord and Varuna its deity, and its symbol is an empty circle, glossed as a hundred physicians. By the rule Shanivat Rahu, Rahu behaves like Saturn, and Saturn is neutral toward Jupiter, so Jupiter is neither hurt nor helped by its lord and works in a foreign medium.

Varuna binds and heals. Under Jupiter the healing is of belief: a long-held certainty is examined and, where it fails, dissolved. Medicine, research, the sea and secret knowledge become the channels for wealth and learning. Teachers are unorthodox, sometimes foreign, sometimes only a book.

The stay runs about four to five months, and the retrograde often splits it into two visits. Children in the family may go abroad or into science. Faith passes through a period of doubt that ends in a wider and more honest position, and Rahu's rule can inflate a teacher's claims, so test them.

Capricorn, Libra, Leo, Gemini and Aries Moons and lagnas have Jupiter in the second, fifth, seventh, ninth and eleventh, which Phaladeepika favours. Aquarius Moons hold Jupiter in the first and are given a new circle of friends. Pisces, Scorpio, Virgo and Cancer Moons have the twelfth, fourth, sixth and eighth and should watch their health and their expenses.

The matter here is a person's relation to what cannot be known. Shatabhisha withdraws faith's certainties to see whether faith still stands.

Varuna is honoured by truthfulness, since he punishes the broken oath, and by water offered at dusk. Recite Om Brihaspataye Namah on Thursday, and give yellow cloth, turmeric or gram as Parashara prescribes. Durga on Saturday and Om Ram Rahave Namah settle the lord. Avoid intoxicants for the whole stay, because Rahu's illusions enter through them.
