What Jupiter in Mrigashira nakshatra means

Mrigashira is the deer's head, ruled by Mars and presided over by Soma. Two padas lie in Taurus and two in Gemini. Mars is Jupiter's friend, so the lord welcomes the graha. Both sign lords, Venus and Mercury, are Jupiter's enemies, and the nakshatra lord is the only friend Jupiter meets here.

A visit runs a little under three months. Soma is the nectar of the Moon, and Mrigashira is the search for it. Jupiter searches for a teacher, a text, a truth, and finds pieces of it in many places. Travel for study is common, children are restless and curious, and their education changes course.

The Taurus padas give the search a material aim: a house, an income, a comfort. The Gemini padas turn it to books, conversation and short trips by road. Jupiter in Mercury's sign talks more than it settles.

The quality of a person's seeking is what comes into view. Restlessness under this transit is a sign that the mind wants a guru and has still to find one.

For the Taurus padas, Aries, Capricorn, Scorpio, Virgo and Cancer Moons have Jupiter in Phaladeepika's favourable houses. For the Gemini padas those houses fall to Taurus, Aquarius, Sagittarius, Libra and Leo Moons. Cancer Moons have Jupiter in the twelfth once it crosses into Gemini, and Gemini Moons carry it in the first. The lagna is read the same way.

Honour Soma with an offering of milk on Monday and the guru with japa of Om Brihaspataye Namah on Thursday. Parashara's dana for Jupiter is yellow cloth, turmeric or gram. Choose one text and read it to the end before opening another.
