What Jupiter in Magha nakshatra means

The Pitris, the ancestors, preside over Magha, and its symbol is a throne. It lies at the start of Leo, the Sun's sign, and the Sun is Jupiter's friend. Ketu rules the nakshatra, and by the rule Kujavat Ketu it acts like Mars, another friend. Jupiter sits well here, in a friendly sign under a lord that leans toward it.

A visit is about two and a half months. Jupiter's dharma meets the lineage. Ancestral property is divided or recovered, a family rite is performed, and the elders' blessing is felt in the children. Positions of authority come to those with the standing to hold them, as Magha is the seat of kings.

Ketu gives pride its edge. Faith turns to certainty about one's lineage, one's guru, one's place. Jupiter expands whatever it meets, and here it can expand the sense of entitlement.

Inheritance, in faith and in fault, is what Magha brings to the surface. What has come down the father's line becomes visible, and the wise receive it and set part of it down.

Tarpana for the ancestors is the remedy that belongs to Magha. Feed Brahmins or elders on a Thursday, recite Om Brihaspataye Namah, and give yellow cloth, turmeric or gram as Parashara advises. Sit lower than the guru, whatever seat one holds elsewhere.

Cancer, Aries, Aquarius, Sagittarius and Libra Moons and lagnas have Jupiter in the second, fifth, seventh, ninth and eleventh. Leo Moons carry it in the first, which gives standing and heavier duties. Virgo, Taurus, Pisces and Capricorn Moons, with Jupiter in the twelfth, fourth, sixth and eighth, should watch the purse and the liver.
