What Jupiter in Hasta nakshatra means

Hasta is the hand, ruled by the Moon and presided over by Savitr, the Sun as the one who impels. It lies wholly in Virgo. The Moon is Jupiter's friend, and Mercury, the sign lord, is an enemy. The nakshatra offers the graha a kind hand in a sign that questions it.

The visits are short, about six weeks by the median, and a retrograde has cut one to a fortnight. Hasta is skill: writing, healing, craft, counting. Jupiter's wisdom here becomes practical, and the teacher is one who shows with the hands. Trades that use the hands prosper, and a course in medicine or accounts goes well.

Savitr sets things in motion. Under this transit a plan that sat on paper is begun, and children take up an instrument or a tool. Jupiter in Virgo can be fussy, and the risk is a wisdom lost in small corrections.

Leo, Taurus, Pisces, Capricorn and Scorpio Moons and lagnas have Jupiter in the second, fifth, seventh, ninth and eleventh, the houses Phaladeepika calls favourable. Virgo Moons carry it in the first house and take on more work than they meant to. Libra, Gemini, Aries and Aquarius Moons, with Jupiter in the twelfth, fourth, sixth and eighth, should rest the body.

Recite the Gayatri, which is addressed to Savitr, at dawn through the stay. Japa of Om Brihaspataye Namah on Thursday and Parashara's dana of yellow cloth, turmeric or gram are the Guru supports. Make something with the hands and give it away.

Whether knowledge reaches the hand is the question Hasta puts. Many know what is right and do not do it, and what one makes in these weeks answers plainly.
